Rome has been my home away from home for this experience. Each morning I was greeted with the sight of St. Peter's Basilica and the ringing of its bells. Truthfully, not many people can say that their morning commute consists of a walk through Vatican City.
Rome has very rich history that is well preserved. Being in Rome I have been exposed to history that spans over two and a
half thousand years. Rome is
regarded as one of the birthplaces of western civilization and has
served as the capital city of the Roman Kingdom, the Roman Republic,
Roman Empire and today the capital of the Italian Republic. Honestly I can't think of anywhere else where you can find such a unique combination of history,
religion, art, and culture. Rome has ancient ruins, religious landmarks, famed
museums, and remarkable public squares as well as wonderful food!
From my time in Rome there is honestly too much to say!
I have explored so much in this wonderful city and will constantly refer to my time in Rome for years to come.
My favorite
part of Rome has to be the Roman Forum. The Roman Forum is a rectangular forum or plaza surrounded by the ruins of several important ancient government buildings at the center of the city of Rome. For centuries it served as the center of Roman public life. It was truly amazing to see the architectural fragments and the archeological excavations in the Forum. The ruins leave behind important clues about what once was and allow you to imagine yourself walking amongst Rome’s ancient rulers and
elite.
